Artist & Allotmenteer
My creative process begins with growing flowers, fruits and vegetables on the allotment. I am with the work for every part of its journey: planting seeds, tending to saplings, stretching and priming canvases, harvesting and arranging produce, painting, and finally preserving the bounty through jam-making, fermenting and freezing.
My work celebrates the rewards of an allotment and encourages viewers to find slowness and calm in their own lives.

Everything starts on the allotment
Watch the short film to explore the influences, inspiration and process behind my work. With thanks to Ronnie Danaher who was able to capture the spirit of my practice.

Celebrating the slow
Growing the subject matter for the paintings sometimes takes years before fruition and this slow attention of growing is reflected in the creative process. Canvasses are hand-built, stretched and primed, giving a sense of intimacy with the materiality of the piece itself.

I'm extremely thankful to have been a recipient of a DYCP (Developing Your Creative Practice) grant in March 2024, generously funded by the Arts Council and UK Government.
